Apple Blosom Time

Apple Blossom Time

Every year when the apple blossoms come, I think of the old song, "I'll Be With You in Apple Blossom Time."  For years, I have wanted to do a painting as a tribute to that old standard. Finally this spring, I started it based on some photos I took near Gagetown, N.B.

Halfway through, my confidence wavered and I made some unnecessary corrections, basically ruining the work.  I started over and this is the finished work. As an artist, I strive to do the best work I can.  I can and do lose my confidence from time to time but when that confidence comes back, it is stronger than ever and I become consumed with a desire to create.

The work is framed and the framed size is 28 x 24 Inches.  I can remove the frame, should you desire. Here's a pic of the framed work.

Martello Tower

Another new work

This semi abstract painting of Martello Tower, Saint John, N.B. started out as a watercolour batik, then it had some ink blown over it and some acrylic added. Blowing ink makes for some scary trees and these ones are fairly true to life.  Prints will be available in the near future.

This work is unframed and has been matted to 24 x 18 Inches with a cream color museum mat and backing and enclosed in an archival plastic bag.

Free For All

Just finished today. Brought it home for a spray and to be photographed.

I was inspired by a bunch of daisies growing wild near St. Martin's Beach. I was also inspired to do some knife work after teaching some knife techniques last week. Feels good to be free with the paint again. My confidence is back in full force and when that happens, I start getting a little looser and enjoying myself, playing actually.

This is the framed price.  The work is a little textured and has some blown paint to liven it up even more!

Tranquility

I was having coming up with a title for this one. The painting makes me think of Jonathon Livingston Seagull. if you are too young to understand, read the book; it only takes 20 minutes.

I used as a reference photo a scene out Black River area but I changed it so much to create the atmosphere I wanted,  that it's just an imaginary place now. I am so lucky to be able to make these places of almost complete tranquility.

The work is framed in a wooden frame black and pewter in color with a white liner. The frame is quite wide and I can provide a framed photo and framed measurements upon request.

With Me

Voted Most Popular July 2014, Brush Works Art Contest.

I love this work.  It was done over a period of a couple of months. The work looks quite realistic but what I was after was a rather imaginary place, a sort of "Happy Place".  I get a peaceful feeling whenever I take a moment to view this work.  The title is from a song.

I did use some elements from a small bit of parkland around the corner from my home in Rothesay. This painting continues around the sides of the gallery canvas and all hanging hardware has been installed.

This painting was voted "Most Popular" for July 2014 in the Bold Brush Art Contest!
