Happy Together is an oil painting I finished in May of 2014. The pansies are huge. I often relate to the filler-flowers in the garden. I love to really look at the beautiful details of the smallest flower and I feel great joy in creating a work designed to allow people to experience the wonder I see in each blossom. I often alter the details and sometimes the colours to keep the viewer from being distracted.
I painted this with both a brush and painting knives. I love dragging paint with a knife or spatula and I had plenty of opportunity to indulge this passion here. I played detailed areas off against more vague areas, lights against darks all to keep the work moving and alive.
The work is on gallery wrap canvas and the sides are painted black. Hanging hardware is attached but the work does need to cure before it can be shipped.
