I love painting flowers on rice paper. You can not dilly dally. You must always have the proper amount of paint at the right consistency or everything will run together and make one royal mess. I've been painting on rice paper since the 1980's and because I learned how to paint watercolor on rice paper, all my watercolors seem to have a bit of an Oriental look to them. When I first saw a watercolor batik in an art magazine, I knew I had to try it. For some reason, it took me around ten years to gather the materials and get up the nerve. Although I do love painting with the wax and adding the ink, I do feel the need to work in other mediums as well.
This work is unframed and has been matted to 24 x 18 Inches with a cream color museum mat and backing and enclosed in an archival plastic bag.
