I had trouble getting a good photo of this work. It took me several tries but the blue tones finally came as they are in real life. This is a rather moody work and is loosely based on a back road near Welsford, New Brunswick. I was working from some photos I had taken last autumn. Usually I just use the photos as a starting point and I put them away half way through the painting process. After the photos go away, I just concentrate on making a painting that is balanced and expresses what I want to say, I was freezing in February in the studio and would have given anything to be able to go for a nice long hike through the woods, without the bitter cold. I often just let myself drift in to the little world I am making with paint. It is truly the best part of my job.
This painting is on gallery wrap canvas and the sides are painted black and all hanging hardware is attached.
