For those of you familiar with St. Martins, New Brunswick, this is the view of the other side of The Caves Beach. There is something totally magical about how the late afternoon sun shines on the Bay of Fundy and the daisies growing here made the scene all that more tempting to paint.
Realism isn't all that important to me. I paint in a very intuitive manner with very little mapping out before hand. Some of my paintings are quite realistic and others are dreamier. This one ended up being quite realistic, almost by accident. When I paint a scene like this, I am after the feeling I had when I was there. When that feeling comes alive again for me, the painting is done. I fiddled with this one for over a week until I got what I wanted.
This painting is on gallery wrap canvas and continues loosely around the sides. Hanging hardware is attached as this style of painting can be hung as is.
