Thanks to the wonderful organizers and many volunteers, this painting sold at the RNS 2016 Show and Sale.
I have been posting this painting through it's various steps on facebook, something I rarely do these days. The response has been quite favourable. Seems a lot of people like to know how a work develops.
This was inspired by several photos I took, with permission, of a potter's garden on the Coastal Route in Maine. I was sure I would remember her name but it seems I really am getting old. I had planned on dropping in on our way back to pick up a couple of her fantastic works but we ended up going a different route. It was a totally beautiful little garden patch with several different types of poppy and so much more.
My painting is a little wilder than the actual garden but I wanted to capture the experience of seeing all of the different flowers and the incredible presence of the totally red poppies. I have no luck growing poppies so I probably get more excited than most people when I see such an incredible display.
Hope you enjoy my version of this garden and if you know who the potter is, please drop me a note and I will gladly give her credit for her gardening skill.
My version is on gallery wrap canvas painted around the sides. All hanging hardware is attached and if the buyer wishes, they could have it framed.
