This is a work I like because of the feeling of a stark beauty. As I was working on it I had a feeling that I would get after I had been through a bit of an ordeal and was enjoying the calm and feeling stronger than before. I had been pushing myself to dig deeper and express more in my work. For me to get to a new level in my art, I have to push and give up most of the safety I had previously developed for myself. Sometimes, it can be painful as well as frightening but when it works, it's very good.
