Started this painting back in November. It is the Kennebecasis River near where I live. I am always amazed at how the river changes colour in the autumn. This is such a dramatic time of the year in New Brunswick and I never get tired of drawing and painting the fall colours.
Cold Water was one of those paintings that just stalled on me. I have it almost finished and knew that there was something that needed changing. When I put it on the easel today, I realized that I just had to make a couple of adjustments to the leaves. If I hadn't put it away, I would have probably ruined it. Sometimes I just need "fresh eyes".
This painting is on gallery wrap canvas and the painting continues around the sides. The sides in this one are quite sketchy as I didn't want to take away from the drama of the front of the painting.
