This painting is a result of deliberately trying to loosen up. So often, I feel like I have to make every line and shape perfect. I find that I can either strive for perfection or make a good painting. To me a good painting expresses a feeling and causes the viewer to react on an emotional level. When I paint something which is technically good but has no soul, I have failed.
In this work, I threw the pursuit of technical perfection to the wind and just concentrated on the atmosphere of this view of the West Side from Harbour Passage. These paintings go a little quicker so they are priced accordingly.
